Caribou Adventure

When you join us for one of our exciting caribou hunting packages, you will be hunting with the #1 caribou hunting outfitter, which is also a family owned and operated business.

Quebec's Great Northern Caribou (Canada) is one of the largest game animals that can be found in North America. They carry the largest racks in proportion to body size of any antlered animal. Quebec caribou stand about 50 inches high at the shoulder and weigh around 300-400 pounds.

Usually, bulls will carry a rack 3 feet high with a spread of 48-60 inches. Caribou fur has a pale brown color, with mature late-season bulls sporting a contrasting white neck and mane.

FACT :

The hunting success for caribou as compared to other big game animals is extremely high. It is nearly six times higher than the success rate for elk or mule deer (which is about 15% for both  species as compared to 90% and up for caribou).

Although caribou hunting has one of the highest success rates in the world, such things as weather, high water levels, flies and food shortage may affect caribou migratory patterns and play a major role in your overall hunting experience. No reputable outfitter will guarantee that you will tag two animals (including mature bulls) or that the caribou will be easy to find.

As with all hunting, your success depends on a lot of factors, some of which are out of our control (for example, bad weather), which might slow down the caribou migration and make the hunt more difficult. BUT … as an outfitter with a solid reputation, Caribou Adventure will do everything in its power to ensure a successful hunt!

This may include transferring you to a different camp, if need be, but this is based upon the availability of our aircraft, availabilty of alternate camps and the weather.

FACT:

There are about 1,000,000 caribous in the the great New-Quebec. The best time for hunting them is between early-August until the end of September, because they are always in quest of food following an endless migration pattern. The herds cross the Caniapiscau region around this time; this is where many of our camps location are.

For your information, we also accommodate bow hunters. But bow hunting conditions in the tundra demand a different approach due to limited cover. If you wish, you can bring a rifle along with your bow and tag one caribou with your bow and the second with your rifle.
